Stein: Nuggets won’t move Mozgov unless return is “crazy good”

Most recent trade rumors involving Timofey Mozgov have indicated that he is on the block and the Nuggets are actively shopping him. A report today from ESPN.com‘s Marc Stein appears to throw cold water on all of that:

Is the following mere posturing or the real-deal stance in Denver? Only time will tell, but one source plugged into the Nuggets’ plans insisted this week that Russian center Timofey Mozgov — widely presumed to be a lock to be dealt before the deadline — will not be moved unless the return is “crazy good.” Don’t know that such an offer is going to materialize for a player behind Kosta Koufos and JaVale McGee in George Karl’s frontcourt rotation.

Of course, “crazy good” relative to Timo is pretty vague, especially considering that much of his market value might come more from his size and expiring contract than his talent. But the bottom line appears to be that, for those hoping for the Nuggets to make some noise before the Feb. 21 trade deadline, it may be best not to hold your breath.

      Seems pretty good except i dont see any place for evan turner in this line up with iggy and gallo. and Kwame would have to ride the bench as well.

        Yeah I figured switch ET and Will seeing as there are murmurs neither of them are happy. Does’t really do much but get Iggy a buddy I guess aha

    Trade Mozgov, Hamilton, and Randolph to the Bobcats for an expiring and a good pick or two. Meanwhile trade, Dre and Chandler to Mavs for Marion and Beabious(?).

    Mavs need a point, Chandler wants to start. We need a point guard that won’t complain and Karl won’t play no matter what. Also Marion can defend better than Chandler and has better shot selection and would probably love playing for a team that doesn’t suck.

    Let the contract we get expire and re-sign Brew plus have some money left over. Much more get a really good pick or two good picks from The Bobcats.

    And again do a separate trade to send Chandler and Dre to Dallas for Marion and Beabious(?).

      So you’re willing to give away Moz, A Rand, and J Ham for an expiring (basically for nothing?). I think J Ham is certainly worth more than being a throw in to get an expiring.

        I mean you could conceivably package Ham, Moz, and Chandler and/or Miller for Varejao, maybe. Though they do want a lot. But really I’d settle for really good picks or two good picks for those three that won’t get any playing time here anyways. Not to mention you get money for Brewer re-signing. Which he’s earned. And really he is great for this team. Then if you move Chandler and Miller, who don’t want to play here and should be moved. You have even more money for the new pieces you get, or for a smart free agent signing, or just money in the back pocket.

          The bobcats wouldn’t take that trade. Get real this isn’t NBA 2k13 where you can turn on the trade override. Wow. Just wow.

    The Bobcats would say no to Moz, Hamilton, and Randolph for say two non lottery first round picks? Or two second round and one non lottery first round pick?

    Okay.

    Not like Moz would be an upgrade for their center spot, or Ham would be an upgrade at their two guard or small forward spot, offensively. Or Randolph would be an upgrade to their bench of PF position if they chose to start Mullens at the five.
