Manimal drops 40 points in Rising Stars Challenge, wins MVP

Big congratulations to Kenneth Faried, who scored a game high 40 points on 18 of 22 shooting to help lift Team Chuck to victory in the All-Star Weekend Rising Stars Challenge game. He also pulled down 10 rebounds, and his superlative performance earned him the game’s Most Valuable Player award.

For a nice breakdown of the game, including some quotes from the Manimal, check out Justin Verrier’s recap at here.

What I thought was odd was when he went to the TNT set to talk to Chuck, Shaq, Malone, and Ernie. He seemed completely at ease talking to those guys, but he usually seems nervous talking Blake Olsen or answering questions from Benjamin Hochman. Weird.

I think it is cause they are usually after a game and he is tired and/or still pumped. He’s said after games he has trouble sleeping because he is still wired. I think in this game he was just having fun and not over thinking it in the slightest, and had plenty of energy left over to talk to the guys. Also he may be getting better at talking in general and being recognized in public. I mean Griffin *spits on the ground* used to be hilariously bad at interviews and scared to talk on camera. Now he is obviously a lot better. Granted a billion dollars to sell crappy products would help anyone I imagine. Still happy for Faried. Really great kid. Hope he goes the Rose route and stays a humble and nice kid if Faried ever becomes a marketable face for the NBA. And note the Durant, Westbrook, Griffin route of well becoming dicks.

I don’t think Faried is our best player but it does seem the league is wanting to push him as the face for this team. If that means finally getting respect from the refs and people that make the schedule, I’m all for it.

Maybe this is what the manimal needs..some trophies and recognition. Now he will be playing out of his mind.

He got robbed tonight. His first dunk was more impressive than White’s and Ross’s first dunk. Oh well. I’ll skip the all star game itself. No reason to watch. They found a way to make the all star weekend more boring than it’s ever been. Just so long and dragged out. Shame we didn’t get to see Faried’s bowling ball dunk.

Wow, Faried should have easily beaten Bledsoe & Evans, Maybe not Ross but he got robbed in my opinion.
