[UPDATE] Lawson charged with physical harassment, according to The Denver Post

A few days ago I asked the RMC community to come up with story ideas because our writers were all out. Many readers submitted some fine ideas, which we plan on covering in the coming days, but none can compare to the real-life physical harassment and criminal mischief charges Ty Lawson obtained this past Saturday night.

According to The Denver Post, Ty Lawson was involved in a “domestic violence” arrest on Saturday which resulted in the charges mentioned above. As the Post points out, this is the second time this year that Lawson has been arrested. And while the arrests and most recent charges appear to be nothing to laugh about, that isn’t stopping Lawson and teammate Wilson Chandler from playfully venting on Twitter:

The Nuggets have also issued the following statement in light of the recent developments:

We are fully aware of an incident involving Ty Lawson over the weekend. Per team policy and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time,” said Nuggets General Manager & Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly.

Reaction: This is probably not a big deal, from the sounds of it. There’s talk on Twitter that this could be nothing more than a minor incident involving some cell phone issues that erroneously required police assistance. No matter what the outcome, the Nuggets’ above PR statement is correct in its assessment that the legal process must play out before conclusions are drawn. Stay tuned as details continue to emerge.

[UPDATE] The Denver Post has followed up on this story. It appears it could be more serious than just a few “broken cell phones.”

Von and Ty in the same week??? The two most seemingly chill guys… I felt like Denver athletes had a special humbleness over other cities for some reason because I feel like our city is just like that so it’s disappointing to see this…

I agree with you Scott. I feel like Denver has got to be one of the most laid back cities in the US. That whole carmelo saga would have never gone so smoothly if he was trying to leave Boston, New York, Chicago, LA, etc… He got off easy in Denver.

    P.S. Don’t forget Todd Helton?
