Trade deadline update: Jordan Hamilton traded to Rockets for Aaron Brooks

As first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the Nuggets have acquired point guard Aaron Brooks from the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jordan Hamilton.

As indicated in our previous post, it had appeared earlier that Denver was on track with the Knicks to trade J-Ham for Beno Udrih. Apparently, however, Tim Connelly and the front office were still busy working the phones, and found their preferred option in Brooks.

The move gives the Nuggets a competent and, importantly, healthy point guard to back up the currently injured Ty Lawson, and bolsters their depleted backcourt.

Stay tuned to Roundball Mining Company, as we will soon be bringing you analysis of Denver’s trade deadline moves, and any further updates that develop.

Any reason this deal couldn’t have happened a week ago?

  • The Truth

J Ham wins on this one. Brooks should have something to prove, here’s an opportunity.

I was not impressed with either deal today, but at least Denver was smart enough not to send Hamilton to the Knicks, which could have potentially helped NY down the stretch thus reducing the number of combinations Denver has in the lottery.

I feel like it would have been more beneficial to trade faried and Hamilton to new York for Shumpert and udrih. I love faried and really liked hamiltons upside but our draft pick should be a good one and Shumpert brings perimeter defense that we don’t have. Overall I think it would have set us up better for next season.

At least we got a PG and we definitely could have done worse.
I’m happy with this. Watch Aron Brooks light up JJ Barea and Ricky Rubio.

wonder if he wears “0” for us…
Anyone know if any Nuggets has ever had that number?

So too late to get rid of Hickson? Anyways, good pick up Brooks. Though I would have liked some picks for Miller instead/as well.

Yahoo Sports called the Nuggets among the winners in their “Winners/Losers in the NBA trade deadline” … likes what we did as well.
