Rumor: Nuggets want Lauvergne

According to, Tim Connelly and the Denver Nuggets want to bring French big man and 2013 second-round pick Joffrey Lauvergne to the NBA next year. Lauvergne still has one year left on his contract with Partizan Belgrade who, according to Sportando, is entrenched in financial trouble which could complicate a potential buyout. Lauvergne is coming off the best year of his career last season with Belgrade, leading the Euroleague in rebounds per game.

As always, stay tuned to Roundball Mining Company throughout the summer as we track the Nuggets’ attempts to put 20 men on the floor for the start of the 2014-15 regular season!

King Joffrey! I rather have him than any of the Randolph/Vesely power duo from last year tbh. His teammate, Bogdan B., could be a cool option if he slides down to the nuggets’s second round pick.

Not even in the NBA and has one of the best nicknames already. Long live King Joffery.

Wish he could make it for summer league but hear that conflicts with French national team duties.
More and More it seems the Nuggets have to move some players on the current roster. Do we REALLY need another PF on the roster? Faried, JJ, Darth, ARand.
I certainly would like to see King Joffrey on the roster. I think ARand’s days are numbered as a Nugget.

Nearly a $2M cap hit for AR15 next year.
Even though he was the most buried player on the team..
I think we’re stuck with one more year..

BTW, Kalen, your draft watch needs updating.

Friday, June 13th, 2014: Towson’s Jerelle Benimon (6-8, 245), Metropolitan State’s Brandon Jefferson (5-9, 170), Arizona’s Nick Johnson (6-3, 200) and UCF’s Isaiah Sykes (6-5, 210) are working out for the Nuggets (all possible 2nd round picks or Summer League invitees).

    Saturday, June 14th, 2014: Kansas’ Tarik Black (6-8, 255), Switzerland’s Clint Capela (6-11, 220), Syracuse’s Tyler Ennis (6-2, 180), UCLA’s Zach LaVine (6-5, 180), Florida’s Casey Prather (6-5, 200) and Kentucky’s James Young (6-7, 200).
Out of the Saturday group, LaVine, Ennis and Young would appear to be possibles at 11th. Capela has good potential but most mock drafts place him in mid to late 1st round. This gives some credibility that Nuggets could be looking to trade back. Then again, it would be a smart move to prepare for any scenario.

Haven’t seen enough footage of Lauvergne to comment. Assuming he’d be an upgrade over Anthony Randolph – no offense but that’s not hard to accomplish.

It’s official. I’m starting to go wonky with the draft possibilities. Seeking a time machine to zip through the discussions and see the reality on the other side. I’m simultaneously hungry for rumors/possibilities while growing foggier and more brain dead toward the topic. Can’t get enough but it’s not good for me anymore. Time for rehab.
