Marcus Camby the Los Angeles Clipper

By Jeremy

Clipper Steve from Clips Nation put together a great post about how Marcus Camby has been one of the few bright spots for the Los Angeles Clippers this season.

On how difficult it must be for Camby to go from a perinneal playoff team to one of the worst team’s in the NBA:

But if the losing was getting to him, he certainly didn’t let it show in his play.  Or perhaps he did – perhaps he used it as motivation to be even better.  Because that’s what he’s been:  better.  Arguably better than he’s ever been, and that’s pretty amazing when you consider how good he’s been in his career.

Camby is posting career highs in almost every statistical category.  Clipper Steve does mention that it is possible that part of that equation is the fact he is playing for a horrible team, but also points out that the terrible-ness of the Clippers cannot explain his production.

He goes on to talk about how most every veteran of Camby’s age would be demanding a ticket out of town.  Camby, much to the surprise of Clipper fans is not:

I know a lot of teams have been calling, and it’s always good to feel wanted.  If I have my preference, I would like to stay here.

I strongly suggest you read the entire post.  I will point out that he posted great rebounding numbers in the first half of last season and really trailed off in the last couple of months and that is a possibility again this season.  Also, he has already missed more games this season (5) than last (3).  It is possible he will miss as many games this season as he did in his last two in Denver combined (15).
