Rapid Reaction: Nuggets 117 vs Knicks 94
The Nuggets spoiled Carmelo Anthony’s return to Denver with a blowout win. ‘Melo left the game with a sore knee and spent some time in the locker room, inspiring chants of “where is Melo” from the crowd.

Gallinari looked really good when he went to the rim or got to the line, and really awful shooting jumpers. He played great defense on Carmelo Anthony for part of the first quarter, and later forced two turnovers by drawing offensive fouls away from the ball. |

Ty was aggressive getting into the paint all night, but had a bit of trouble finishing over Tyson Chandler. His shot was falling from the outside and his passing was crisp. He would likely have finished with a double double if Gallinari’s shot had been falling. |

Igoudala has emerged as a solid secondary playmaker for the Nuggets, setting up a ton of easy scores. Tonight he tried to do a little too much and forced several passes into traffic. He was hitting his own shots from everywhere except the free throw line. He had a few spectacular defensive sequences in the second half. |

In a game where the Nuggets were completely dominant in the paint, and the Knicks’ only center left with an injury, the athletic seven footer decided to take a 16 foot jumper that missed everything. He also had one nice block and a layup from freakishly far away from the basket. It was a very inconsistent game overall. |

Andre Miller surprised me by playing fantastic defense for most of his first half minutes. He was also on target with his passing. |

Wilson Chandler spent most of the night taking advantage of the Knicks’ lack of shot blocking. On two occasions he grabbed a rebound, dribbled fullcourt, and got a lightly contested layup. |

Two Things We Saw
- That was anticlimactic: In Carmelo’s first game in Denver since the trade, the game was over before halftime, and he left for good less than three minutes into the second half.
- That was oddly familiar: Four former Nuggets played at least 20 minutes for the Knicks, and many of the Nuggets’ old habits were on display, both good and bad. There were times the Knicks seemed content to settle for long jumpers off of little ball movement, and times when J.R. Smith looked completely unguardable. This game definitely highlighted the change between the Carmelo era and the new Nuggets team era.
#NuggetsRank No. 7: Wilson Chandler
No. 7 on Roundball Mining Company’s #NuggetsRank series is none other than Wilson Chandler. After coming to Denver in the winter of 2011, Chandler has spent much of his Nuggets career either sidelined due to injury or overseas. While many Nuggets fans love the versatility Chandler brings to the table, some feel his role on the team has been slipping ever since he arrived in Denver. But whatever side of the argument you fall on, there’s no denying that Chandler is one of the more talented players on the entire roster. (more…)
2012 Summer League Game 3: Denver Nuggets 85 New York Knicks 81
The Denver Nuggets notched their first win of the Las Vegas Summer League yesterday, defeating the Knicks 85-81 in a close game that provided the first true pressure test for many of the young prospects here.
3-on-3: Past, present, future
In Roundball Mining Company’s first postseason reflection piece we’ll be taking a look at the evolution of the Denver Nuggets over the last year and examine what we’ve learned about the team throughout the process. Though the Nuggets have laid the foundation for the future through savvy front-office dealings there’s still quite a bit of uncertainty surrounding the roster. The current New York state of mind
After last week’s historic battle with the New York Knicks that saw countless Nuggets and Knicks players face their former team for the first time since what we’re now referring to as “the Danillo Gallinari trade,” we caught up with John Kenney to answer some questions. Nuggets News 4.0: The Wilson Chandler Edition
After many days where rumors regarding Wilson Chandler’s possible overseas excursion to Italy bubbled atop the NBA landscape, a decision by the 6-8 small forward to play overseas was finally made that sent shockwaves across the basketball universe. On Aug. 29, 2011, Wilson Chandler officially signed a one-year contract to play with the Zhejiang Guangsha of the Chinese Basketball Association, and with that, his future as a Denver Nugget has been put on hold until at least April of next year. Examining the 2011-12 schedule and Carmelo Anthony’s return to Denver
The 2011-12 NBA schedules were released early Tuesday morning in the event that an NBA season does in fact transpire next year. The Nuggets, as usual, will open up on the road against a heated division rival (Portland) on national TV. Two weeks later, Carmelo Anthony will return to Denver in a non-Nuggets uniform on November 16. The crowd reaction that night will likely be the best gauge to date of how the Nuggets fan-base feels in regards to Anthony’s departure from Denver. Would you boo? Would you cheer? Would you — as I would — sit in silence, counterbalanced by an equal amount of appreciation and disappointment? Or would you simply, and nonchalantly, clap slowly just as you would any other player? A brief diary of the 2011 NBA Draft Lottery
Quite a few storylines unfolded on Tuesday night in Secaucus, N.J., but none were bigger than the Cavaliers winning two of the top four overall picks behind the fortuitous, and confident, 14-year-old Nick Gilbert, son of Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert and team representative for the night. (more…)
Prospecting: Digging for gold in the 2011 NBA Draft
With the Denver Nuggets already out of the playoffs and the NBA Draft a little over a month away, speculation on how the Nuggets will approach the draft and who it will take with the 22nd pick is firmly underway. Equipped with an enticing asset in Raymond Felton as well as the less attractive Al Harrington — both of whom are overshadowed at their respective positions by other teammates, thus making them somewhat trade-able — the Nuggets have the option to make a variety of moves if prompted.
