We Can Say It – The Nuggets are Good

We have a good basketball team

For the first time in as many years i feel we can truly say it. But theres reasons behind it.

1. A good basketball organization. Think about it. What hopes for this season did you have after we lost camby, najera, and then A.I? I was thinking barely in the playoffs if we were lucky. I think it speaks not only to george karl and the coaching staff but also to the front office. Not only did we get under the luxury tax, but we didn’t really lose anything substantial. We lost camby, but Nene is a far superior scorer. We lost Najera but J.R has improved alot defensively. We lost A.I, but…that leads to the second reason.

2. Chauncey Billups. In Wednesdays game against the 76ers, the nuggets look lost offensively. they only scored 37 points in the first half. yet their defense kept them in the game, only trailing by ten at the half. The nuggets, led by chauncey, started doing what they do best. Attacking the rim, getting fouled, big men cutting to the basket and getting easy hoops, And mister big shot hitting some big threes. This is what chauncey has done for this team this season. A true court leader that can take charge and make smart decisions defensively and offensively. And like the best point gaurds in the game today, he makes everyone around him better. What impresses me most about chauncey is that his impact on the team happened almost immediately. Like he was coming home. Ofcorse, we actually was. :)

3. We have a true team. This is what melo said after the trade deadline:

“That’s good to know that we’re keeping the squad,” he said. “We still learning about each other, but we’re winning games at the same time. Chemistry is good. I don’t see no need for us to make any changes.”

Melo sees what i’ve been seeing this last month especially. The chemistry is improving game by game. The only weak link has been Linas Kleiza. but now that he doesn’t have to worry about trade rumors, maybe that confidence he had last season that allowed him to score 40 points in one game and be a true outside threat will return. If it does, we are truly a dangerous team.

We should be grateful for all these things because most teams in the NBA don’t have even one of them. Let alone all three. I still feel we can improve. Like i said it is critical that kleiza starts hitting that outside shot and play with more hustle and intensity. But with Chauncey and Melo leading this team, anything is possible.
