With seemingly everyone in the West improving, I think the Nuggets need to make one more move: what’s the likelihood of a scenario like this:
Sign-and-trade with Atlanta: Kleiza/Steven Hunter/Atkins trade exception for re-signed Marvin Williams.
For Atlanta: Allows them to play small and get all of their guards on the floor. Kleiza gives spark off the bench and Hunter is serviceable backup center with expiring deal. Plus clears up cap space for the inevitable Joe Johnson re-up.
For Denver, they get another impact guy who can help the second unit. Good scorer, improving defensively. He can play 3 or 4 since he’s 6-9. Would this work and would either be interested? What are your thoughts?
The bottom line is, with everyone spending, it’s unrealistic that you can stay under the luxury tax and still stay competitve in today’s NBA. You just can’t.
